Please welcome author Rhonda Lee Carver!
Please tell us a little about yourself.

At an early age, Rhonda fell in love with romance novels, knowing one day she’d write her own love story. Life took a short detour, but when the story ideas would no longer be contained, she decided to dive in and write. Her first rough draft was on a dirty napkin she found buried in her car. Eventually, she ran out of napkins. With baby on one hip and laptop on the other, she made a dream into reality—one word at a time.

Her specialty is men who love to get their hands dirty and women who are smart, strong and flawed. She loves writing about the everyday hero.

When Rhonda isn't crafting sizzling manuscripts, you will find her busy editing novels, blogging, juggling kids and animals (too many to name), dreaming of a beach house and keeping romance alive. Oh, and drinking lots of coffee to keep up with her characters.

How long have you been a published writer?
My first book released in 2011.

How long does it take you to write a book?
From beginning to end, about a month.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I write a few chapters then go back and edit, adding content as I go. I do this from beginning to end, and then polish it.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books? That there’s always room to grow and learn, no matter how many books you have under your belt.

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? Passion. A cross between blue and lavender.

We finish the interview and you step outside and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?
Pay off my bills. Make sure my momma is well taken care of. Set up a savings account for my kids. And buy an ocean front property.

What was the last gift you gave someone?
We have a homeless man who owns a dog here in town. Every Sunday I give him dog food and a few food items for himself.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it? Hallmark Christmas Movies. Because they are nostalgic.

What’s your favorite dish to cook?
(Feel free to share the recipe)

Lemony Buttered Noodles. Simple yet so, so good.

Boil egg noodles until tender. Drain. Add butter, lemon pepper seasoning, salt, and parmesan cheese. And that’s it! This is a recipe that’s easy and tasty.

“Oh, so now you want to hear? Not at the station?” The tone to her voice told him she wasn’t happy and he didn’t blame her. No one liked run-ins with the law. “He made me angry.”

“I’m not sure how you city folks handle things, but we usually don’t go around hitting people when we’re angry.”

“I don’t know how you cowboys handle things here in Texas, but where I’m from men don’t take liberties with women. No means no. And should I remind you how you punched Urban because you were angry?”

“That’s different.” He stopped. She paused and looked at him in confusion. “What did Reed do?”

“I had asked him several times over the last month for an interview for the documentary with Urban, but he declined every time. Finally, when we stopped filming, he decided he wanted to give me an interview. Johnny and I went to his house. At first, Reed seemed friendly and had a field day talking about himself and how much he hates the Jericho men. When the camera shut off and Johnny stepped outside, Marshall Reed thought he’d flash that Gremlin-like smile and I’d fall at his snakeskin boots. I told him no and a man like him thinks he has enough money to do what he wants, and how he wants. He touched me and it was my first reaction to defend myself. Sure, maybe I shouldn’t have punched him, but he shouldn’t have continued to make advances after I made it clear that I wasn’t interested and wanted to leave.”

Hugh swiped a palm down his cheek as anger raced through him. This wouldn’t be the first time Reed didn’t understand boundaries. “Touch you? Did he—?”

“No, he didn’t go that far, but he had his hands on me.” Her pale blue eyes turned a shade darker.

He had a lot of respect for a woman who didn’t take any shit from a man. Growing up, Hugh and his brothers had been taught that a decent man was supposed to act respectful. “You’ll have your chance to tell the Judge everything.” Hugh opened the door of the bed and breakfast. The rain was still coming down hard.

Welcome author Donna Michaels!

Please tell us a little about yourself.

Hello, my name is Donna Michaels, and I’d like to thank Sable for having me here today. For those who don’t know me, I’m a hybrid author who loves writing cowboys and military heroes, and if I can combine the two, I often do. My romances are Hot, Humorous, and Heartwarming, and although I love writing several genres, my most popular are contemporary romance, romantic comedy, and romantic suspense that I publish as an Indie author, or through Entangled and The Wild Rose Press.

How long have you been a published writer?

I sold my first book “Thanks for Giving” to The Wild Rose Press back in 2006. Wow, time sure does fly.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It takes me anywhere from 10 to 30 days to write a book. It all depends on the length, and if the dang characters are talking. Lol

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

My most interesting writing quirk isn’t actually one I’m thrilled about. I seem to write best under pressure of a looming deadline. Yeah, not fun. lol

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

The most surprising thing I’ve learned creating books is that my characters have a mind of their own. Just because I visualize the book going one way, does not mean it ends up there. It’s always an adventure getting to “The End”. And I love that!

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Sunrise Purple, because it’s my favorite part of the day (if I’m awake), and the sky is usually full of beautiful color and the day is full of promise.

We finish the interview and you step outside and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?

If I won $10 million in the lottery, you’d hear my ‘woot’ across the world! I’d pay off my college debt for each of my kids, and their college debt as well. Get my parents set up in a comfortable place, then I’d help my family and friends, before buying a 3 bedroom home in Nevada…then I’d donate to several veteran charities, and animal charities. And if there’s anything left, I may go out for a nice prime rib dinner at Outback. 😊

What was the last gift you gave someone?

The last gift I gave was to one of my sons. He just moved into his own place, so I purchased some household goodies, including a much-needed pack of fillable K-cups for his Keurig. Most have coffee. 😉

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?

The last thing I watched on TV was Hawaii Five-0, because I love Hawaii, a military hero, and the show has both.

What’s your favorite dish to cook?
(Feel free to share the recipe)

My favorite dish to cook is actually a side dish: macaroni salad. I seem to get the most requests for it and potato salad. Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1lb macaroni
Large jar Kraft Mayonnaise
1 tbs vinegar
1 tbs. yellow mustard
3 celery stalks, chopped
3 hardboiled eggs
¼ small onion, chopped
Paprika

Directions:

While the macaroni is cooking, I mix all of the other ingredients in a large bowl. Then just add the macaroni after it’s, cooked, drained, and cooled. I usually sprinkle paprika on top right before setting bowl on the table.

*For potato salad, substitute the macaroni with 5lbs of potatoes. I cut them into bite-sized pieces before cooking.

Enjoy!

I’m excited to talk about my upcoming release: Grinch Reaper
It’s part of a series I’m honored to be in with several amazing romantic suspense authors. My book is number 8 in the Sleeper SEAL Series. Each book is written as a standalone, so they can be read in any order. I got the December slot, so of course, I had to make sure it had some part of the holidays in it. I also set it in Atlantic City, a place I’ve been to more than 30 times in my lifetime. It was so much fun to write. I hope you enjoy it, too!

The Sleeper SEALs are former U.S. Navy SEALs recruited by a new CIA counter-terror division to handle solo dark ops missions to combat terrorism on U.S. soil.

GRINCH REAPER

The only thing Matteo “Reaper” Santarelli hates more than Christmas is having to leave the teams to take over his family’s chain of pizza joints after his father suffers a stroke. So when the Sleeper SEALs team he joined upon discharge tasks him with a local mission, he’s happy to toss the dough aside to track down and interrogate the leader of the cell to gather intel on threats to Atlantic City over the holiday season. But the simple snatch ‘n grab assignment turns complicated when his path crosses with his kid sister’s beautiful best friend—a former Marine hell bent on wiping out his mark.

Blackjack dealer by day, Isabella “Banshee” Monroe hunts terrorists for a living as part of a secret government task force. For over a decade and a half, she’s waited for the terrorist responsible for her father’s death to come into her crosshairs and isn’t about to let anyone come between her and her sanctioned mission—not even her best friend’s gorgeous older brother—the guy she’s crushed on since childhood.

Finding the leader is easy. Keeping the target safe from Bella is nearly impossible. Almost as impossible as fighting the attraction sizzling between them. But when they discover the threat is bigger than expected, can they stop fighting each other long enough to work together to neutralize the whole cell before the countdown ushers in more than the impending New Year?

** Grinch Reaper is loosely connected to my Dangerous Curves Series. It is also in the "Sleeper SEAL" connected series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.**

*Each book in this multi-author branded series is a standalone novel, and the series does not have to be read in order.*
